New Year’s resolution: say NO to detox diets.

Every year, after the festive season many of us seek a “cleanse” or detox diet to wash out the excesses of the holiday meals. But as you may know by now our digestive system can perfectly handle this task on its own and we do not need additional cleansing aids to detoxify our bodies. Cleansing diets “known as Detox diets” may disrupt the body’s normal balanced metabolism.

One way to naturally help cleanse your body is to cut down on red and processed meat, refined sugar sources, alcohol and caffeine. In order to replenish lost nutrients and aid natural bowel movements it is important to consume nutritious vegetables such as beets, broccoli, cabbage, garlic and ginger.
