Roast beef

Our go to recipe for a delicious roast. Freeze the broth for later use in stews or other sauces; you can as well serve it with the roast. Add one-tablespoon cornstarch to one-cup broth and heat until it thickens.


  • 1.5 kg lean meat filet or faux filet
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp pepper
  • 1 tablespoon dried thyme
  • 10 garlic cloves
  • 2 onions
  • 2 tbsp. olive oil
  • 1.5 liters water


Mix the salt, pepper and thyme together, coat the beef filet with the herbs mixture. Make small incisions inside the filet and insert the garlic cloves. Heat the oil in a heavy saucepan, sauté the onions and the beef filet, add the water and boil until the filet is cooked through. When done, remove from the pot, let cool and slice. Serve with baked potatoes and grilled vegetables.
